I’m Malia, and I co-founded HappyCare because I believe insurance should feel human. I help individuals and small businesses find benefits solutions that are clear, customized, and rooted in care.
My background is in social work and advocacy, so showing up for people has always been at the heart of what I do. I transitioned into insurance because I saw a gap—too many people were overwhelmed or under-served when it came to healthcare coverage. I knew I could bring both clarity and compassion to the table.
I specialize in creative, strategic benefits—especially for small teams, startups, and groups with unique needs like part-timers or those blending Medicare and marketplace plans.
Outside of HappyCare, I’m a mom, a maker, and a big believer in community. I bring that spirit into every conversation—because when it comes to benefits, it’s not just about policies. It’s about people.

Most people just call me Tina. I co-founded HappyCare to help people and businesses navigate Medicare and group benefits in a way that’s clear, honest, and stress-free.
I didn’t plan on a career in insurance, but after a painful personal experience—my family was sold the wrong policy and stuck with $70,000 in medical bills—I knew there had to be a better way. I dove into Medicare first, learning everything I could before expanding into group benefits.
Before insurance, I worked as a paralegal and substitute teacher, always drawn to service. I’ve also volunteered with Girl Scouts, hospice, and local schools.
Losing my mom to cancer at a young age shaped how I show up for others—with care, patience, and purpose. Being a wife and stepmom has deepened that even more.
At HappyCare, Malia and I are building something different: a benefits company built on heart, not hype.
